How To Replace Bent or Broken Wheel Studs - Removal and Installation | Tech Tip 34
Broke a wheel stud? Installing new wheels and require longer ones (like me)? Thankfully wheel studs are dead easy to replace & all you need to do it are some basic tools. In this video I'll take you through the entire process using a halfshaft removed from my 1978 Ford Capri. These were featured in the previous Tech Tip video when I replaced the wheel bearings (ruclips.net/video/PpcJeWhpQ3Q/видео.html).
The JBW Superlite wheels I'm swapping to have a deeper mouting face than the banded steels, meaning longer wheel studs are required for proper fitment. I chose to go 10mm longer than the stock stud and got a new set from www.rallydesign.co.uk

Dual Throttle Body Conversion - How & Why | Supercharged MX5 Episode 29
Просмотров 8 тыс.Год назад
An in depth look at the dual throttle body setup on my Eaton MP45 supercharged MX5. Orignally running a single throttle body - this setup got on my nerves quickly with excessive noise and crap cruising manners. Adding another throttle body has solved all these issues. The car is now much quieter at cruise and idle, and behaves much more like a naturally aspirated setup. To anyone considering go...
Road Testing a Supercharged NB FL MX5 - it's a B-Road Ripper! | 1.8VVT / Eaton MP45 | MX5 Miata Ep28
Просмотров 26 тыс.2 года назад
I'm hitting the road in my supercharged MX5 (finally). If you're new to the channel I've spent the last 18 months documenting this entire build - turning a stock 1.8VVT NBFL MX5/Miata into a supercharged car (ruclips.net/p/PLx54n6KmznFZ2Rga_m4MUsAhAUik3frTf). Over the course of the series I've swapped injectors, plumbed in an intercooler, installed a standalone ECU, and of course installed the ...
How to Replace Rear Wheel Bearings / Half Shaft Bearings (Ford Capri / Escort) | Tech Tip 33
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
Replacing rear wheel bearings on vehicles with solid rear axles using basic tools - it's not the easiest process but with care and attention it can be done. I'll be going through the entire process in this video - from removing the halfshafts out of the rear axle, to cutting off the old bearings and collars, to pressing the new bearings into place, it's all here in detail. Rear halfshaft bearin...

How Much Did it Cost to Supercharge My 2001 MX5 / Miata?? (1.8 VVT) | Episode 27
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 года назад
I've done it - after 18 months of sourcing parts, modifying, and a whole lot of wrenching I've built myself a supercharged Mazda MX5 (which actually runs!! ruclips.net/video/IJF1625BezA/видео.html). So how much did this process cost?? That's what I'm going to be discussing in this video. 🚨 Breakdown of costs in spreadsheet form can be found here docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nIg9hwx0gzkmJF1Z6...
2.0 Ford Pinto First Start in 2022 | Oil Prime and Startup Attempt (Ford SOHC Capri Cold Start)

After many months of neglect I'm about to try start the 2.0 Pinto engine under the hood of my mk3 Ford Capri. As it's been a while since the engine last ran I'm doing a quick health check before turning the key. This involves removing the spark plugs and the rocker cover then giving the valvetrain a visual inspection - making sure I've got no unusual wear to the cam or the followers, and that t...

There's a couple of small jobs that need taking care of pre startup (s...
How To Get them TIGHTER & Prevent Exhaust Wrap from Unravelling! Stainless Steel Zip Tie Tech Tip 32
Просмотров 162 тыс.2 года назад
So you spent ages neatly wrapping your exhaust manifold and got to the final step - securing it to the pipe with some stainless steel zip ties. This is the easiest part of the install right?? Think again! As it turns out a lot of these stainless steel zip ties do not grip the pipe tight enough to hold the wrap permanently in place, allowing it to unravel further down the line. Thankfully there ...
How to Install a Boost Gauge, Blow Off Valve (BOV) & IAT Sensor | Supercharging the MX5 / Miata Ep25

There's only a handful of jobs left before I can attempt a supercharged start up. In this Episode I'm tackling a boost gauge install, a blow off valve (BOV) install, and then wiring up the new IAT sensor. The boost gauge, while not entirely crucial, will give me a visual indication of manifold pressure whilst driving - this will be useful for the tuning process, and could help diagnose any prob...

Armed with a table full of silcone elbows and alloy pipe I'm ready to get involved. The majorit...

How to Install an Air to Air Intercooler Pt 02 + Bumper Removal Process | Supercharging an MX5 Ep 23
Просмотров 4 тыс.2 года назад
An intercooler is a key component to any forced induction build, be it turbo or supercharging. As air is compressed it generates heat, so without any means to cool it down your intake air temp will sky rocket, severely restricting engine performance. This is why many choose to run an intercooler, the most common type is the one I'm going to fit in this video - a front mounted air to air interco...

This two-handed technique is fussy and doesn't get as tight. I just manually pull on the SS lead as tight as possible. Cut off the excess tail and leaving about 30mm. Then just get some long needle nose pliers , grab the end and twist around the nose of the pliers back towards the tie clamp. It applies backward pressure against the clamp on contact to get it real tight. Then back off a little with the pliers and then pull out of the curled tail. you're left with a nice curled tail-end and a tight clamp.

I bought a bag of steel ties. It came with a 3" 1/4" drive extension. It had a slot in the end. Place tie in the slot and tighten with a ratchet. It gets incredibly tight.

I fitted a blanking plate to an egr on an old car. Got an engine warning light. Cheap code reader said egr flow error. Ignored the error until MOT time. Then I removed the blanking plate the day before, cleared the code, and refitted the plate after it passed the MOT 😉

Very useful; thanks. Seems to me that instead of pulling the tie with the pliers, ROLLING the pliers against the pipe would exert even more traction. I use plastic zip ties to hold up my bird suet cages, but squirrels manage to gnaw through the ties so they can drop the cages to the ground and chow down on the suet. I intend to use the metal zip ties and see how those little rascals like that! I hope they'll have to see their squirrel dentists after that.

Sneaky trick - most battery drills have 3 speeds, somewhere around 500, 1000-1200, 1500-2000 rpms. The distributor runs at half engine speed so that equates to 1000, 2400, and 4000 engine rpms, so the initial tuning can be done on the bench. It won't be perfect, but at least it will give some visual cues for the ballpark starting point. Sneaky trick number 2, the drill can also be used to give a rough speedo calibration as well.

I have done that. Then, I take a small punch and with a small hammer, I give the wide end (behind the ball) a whack--just like you would when using a nail set. This further traps the ball and holds it against the narrow end of it's enclosure. BTW, Elmer's glue does a great job holding the wrap's frayed end together. Since it is water-based, it does not burn.

Thanks for the video. I have experience rebuilding and adjusting steering gear boxes but will use this to send to people to explain why they need adjustments after many miles of use. However, I would recommend that after adjusting as much play as possible from the screw adjustment, you should raise both front wheels off the ground and spin the steering wheel lock to lock to check for binding. If a tight spot is detected, loosen the adjusting screw just enough to eliminate the binding. The steering wheel should turn smoothly with just the force of one finger. It's better to check for binding before taking it out on the road.
